JACK 50 BUDDY HARE SCRAMBLE

That’s right, gang! We’re just 7 weeks away from having our annual “Jack 50” Buddy Hare Scramble. This event is such a blast! We get to see many of you get into the Halloween spirit by dressing up as goblins, super hero’s and the likes. WE LOVE IT!. We just may have a few surprises up our sleeve this year, so keep checking up with us for details. Make plans to be here for this 50 mile course on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009. Registration begins @ 8am. You don’t want to miss it!

COMING SOON! We’re currently in the process of planning a “Trials” Course here at The Ridge. We’re very excited about it, but in order to serve you to the best of our capability, we’d like to get your input. If you have experience in trials course riding or development please call us at 205-467-0142 or email at info@ridgeriding.com. We look forward to hearing from you!

ATHS SERIES

The 6^th race of the Alabama Team Hare Scramble Series was the Watermelon Run at Maplesville. Finishing top 3 in the A Class was Alexander /Kyle in 1^st, Henderson/Walters in 2^nd, & Collins/Hollingshead in 3^rd. Top 3 in the B Class was Seale/Roberts in 1^st, Williams/Irwin in 2^nd, & Nichols/Taylor in 3^rd. Top 3 in the C Class was Glover/Allums in 1^st, Popwell/Donahue in 2^nd, & Pierce/Golf in 3^rd. Top 3 in Family Class was Deloach/Deloach in 1^st, Young/Newsome in 2^nd, & Gilbert/Gilbert in 3^rd. Join us Sept. 13^th at Jasper for the 7^th race of the series. ALABAMA TEAM HARE SCRAMBLE SERIES

If you were here for the ATHS at The Ridge on Saturday, June 20^th, then you know what an awesome race it was.  Things were looking great until we had our first injury of the day on the jumps coming out of the first turn.  Shane suffered a severe break to the ankle.  Though you requested that we post a picture of the injury on the website, for those with weak stomachs, such as myself, we had to decline.  But what spirit you had.  Again, we hope you’re doing well and hope to see you back soon. 

Race Results…

Expert Class:  1^st place went to Red Alexander & Tyler Kyle, 2^nd place to Troy Shumake & Roger Little, 3^rd place to Ben Tangey & Mark Herron, 4^th Place to Mike Fann & Ryan Stewart and 5^th Place went to Michael Bailey & David Melton. 

Intermediate:  1^st Place went to Chris Wood & Roby Cline, 2^nd Place went Jason Cole & Brian Crim, 3^rd Place to Lance Hoover & Tyler Shumate, 4^th Place to Brian Jacks & Dan Spooner and 5^th place went to Jessy Howard & Jonathan Howard. 

Novice:  1^st Place went to Josh Glover & Scott Adams, 2^nd Place went to John Riyazi & David Morris, 3^rd place to Jeff Harris & Stan Gordon, 4^th Place to Roger Ryland & Justin Bray and 5^th Place went to Paul Quick & Corey Whitemore.

ALABAMA TEAM HARE SCRAMBLE SERIES

Join us here at The Ridge, Saturday, June 20, 2009 for the third race of the ATHS Series. This has been such an exciting series. Gates will open at 7:00 am. Registration begins at 8:00 am. If you don’t have a partner as of yet, GET ONE! You’re not going to want to miss this. There will be BBQ, Burgers, Hot Dogs and more. Lot’s of great door prizes to give away as well. What’s New at The Ridge?

We just added an awesome single track to our 500 acre park. It’s approximately 3 miles in length making a grand total of 12 miles of single track to ride on here at The Ridge. It has lots of great turns and twists. If you like a challenge, you’ve got one in this. Be checking out the website for some sneak peek photos coming soon!

Bike Rides & Ball Games

HAPPY FATHERS DAY! SUNDAY 6/21/09

Bike rides and ball games, tree houses and camping trips, lighthearted fun times and spontaneous teaching moments. One can never overestimate the importance of a father’s involvement. A father is a wonderful balance of security and patience, wisdom and integrity, encouragement and inspiration. He has the unique and essential role of reflecting the heavenly Father’s unconditional love for his children. May you all be blessed by a fatherly man in your life.

I wrote this program back in 2005-2006 timeframe, since I couldn’t find anything on the web (except a dos program that wasn’t very user friendly). I created it to score some hare scramble races, but it could be used for any kind of race as long as there aren’t more than 20 laps and the classes don’t exceed 20. This is the first released version of the program. It’s free to use as long as you don’t resale it. Since it is free, support will be very limited almost non-existent (what did you expect for the price). I’m trying to put everything that you’ll need to know to successfully use it in this document.  As I said before this is the first version, thus it doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles. I have been using it over the past couple of years and it seems pretty stable and gets the job done.

Features:

- Allows you to score a lap race with up to 20 laps, 20 different classes, and virtually unlimited number of racers

- Track lap number, class, lap time, previous lap time, time the racer is behind the rider in front of him

- Enter the racer number and it calculates everything else.

- Automatically creates a backup file while you are entering racers in case computer crashes.

- Allows you to export to Microsoft Excel and formats the data into a results table.

- Ability to output data to the display of a Beta Bright LED sign.

Alabama Team Hare Scramble Series

There’s been a lot of buzz going around about when The Ridge will have the next Hare Scramble. Well, you know how it goes…Ask and you shall receive!

The Ridge has teamed up with Warrior Motor Cross, Cornerstone at Gardendale, Hanceville, Maplesville and Jasper to create a series through out 2009 that will knock your socks off. Get in on the action. This is one series you will not want to miss!

The “BIG DAWG” 60

Coming Soon!

Join us Saturday, May 9, 2009 for the 2^nd annual Big Dawg 60 Buddy Hare Scramble. The Big Dawg made its debut last year on May 10, 2008 and what a debut it was.

People came from all over to get a taste of the mountain side. The BIG DAWG bit hard and bit mean, giving full meaning to the terms “Rippin it Up & Tearin it Up!”

This 60 mile course is full of challenges and excitement. This will be one heck of a ride. So come on …the BIG DAWG… dares you to BITE BACK!!!

Lodge Construction

We’ve all been anxiously waiting for the completion of the Lodge. Alabama Power has been the hold up since December, but they’re finally coming around to get things done. Just a little more patience folks and we’ll be operating out of it before you know it.

This is going to be an exciting time as we move our operations from a small 3 room trailer to a 12,000 sq. ft.+ building. This means real office space, Hotel rooms, Pro Shop, Storage & Maintenance Facility, a restaurant with a menu reaching farther than microwavable corn dogs & pizza. That alone is worth shouting about. Lot’s of opportunity awaits.
